FMD become unstable after upgrading to v0.8.1b or above

Recently I’ve received reports from many users saying that FMD has become very unstable after upgrading to version v0.8.1b (and maybe with the latest version as well). The bug, which can be described as the software does not respond and there’re chance that a lot of dialogs pop up, appears quiet randomly, makes it hard to trace down and fix. So any help from you would be greatly appreciate!

For people who experienced this bug regularly, please upgrade your FMD to the latest version (v0.8.2.1b). If the bug still happens, please give me some information about:

  • The number of connections, the title of the manga you were downloading, as well as it’s source when the bug happened.
  • Your operation system.
  • Your FMD revision in case you were using a snapshot build.
  • A screenshot when the bug happened would be nice, especially when you were using snapshot build with debug symbols file.
  • The steps to reproduce the bug if you know.

You may consider using the latest snapshot, which is basically the latest build of FMD using the latest available sources and with the latest fixes and new bugs. Snapshots always contain debug symbols file (fmd.dbg). This file can be removed manually whenever you don’t want it anymore. There’re two type of snapshots:

  • Snapshots for people who want to test the snapshot with their existing resources. Just download the package, extract it and overwrite your existing FMD files. Your FMD then can still upgrade to official releases via updater.
  • Snapshots for people who don’t want to mess with their existing FMD.

You can find those snapshots here:

Thank you,

    • Those are probably because chapters url have been changed.
To find new chapter in favorites, FMD comparing downloaded chapters in favorites.ini with chapters url from the website. So if chapter url changed on website, those chapters will be marked as new chapter.
For workaround you can accept those update by click “Download” on new chapter dialog. And delete those task later without downloading it.
But, you have to check manually your download directory for latest chapter you probably missing. But, I think there’s shouldn’t be many url changes, except if your favorites come from the same sites.
Sometimes manga sites will change their chapter url. For example from to This changes will affect how fmd check its favorites.

    • There is temporary server issue on You have to open the particular chapter on your browser to check the availability. If you can view all of the image correctly on your browser then there is a chance the fault is on fmd.

  1. Recently certain links on fakku don’t show up in the manga info anymore, no picture, names or tags. just to give a few examples:

Don’t know if it’s just me or they implemented some new stuff to block downloads. Note that it only happened quite recently and only for certain links (new links of course).

  2. Recently fakku mangas are not downloadable at all. It seems to freeze at the preparing stage right after folder creation. Could you look into this?

  3. I’ve been having some trouble loading some titles from Batoto. After searching for them, when I click on the link to bring up the title’s information, I just get an error message saying: “Cannot get manga info. Please check your internet connection and try again.” This doesn’t happen on all manga, but it has happened more than once so I’m not sure if this is only on specific titles, or it is a problem at Batoto’s end or what.

Also, if possible, could you add downloads from the scanlation site:
